FAQ – Infrared Sauna


What should I wear in the Infrared Sauna?

We require every client to wear a bathing suit.

Please also bring a large beach towel for you to sit / lay in the sauna and a small face towel to wipe off the toxins as they surface. Please remove all shoes before entering the sauna. We will provide towels for the floor.

What should I do while I am in the Infrared Sauna?

This is the perfect time to relax and unwind. A great way to be still and meditate. Feel free to read a book or bring an ipod and listen to music. It is best not to sleep while taking a sauna.

 

What if I need to cancel my Infrared Sauna appointment?

We require a 24 hour notice of any cancellation to avoid be fully charged for the session. This allows us to better accommodate all of our clients. Please read our Cancellation & Lateness policy here.

What if I don’t usually sweat a lot?

Not to worry.  For most people it usually takes a few sessions before the body really begins to sweat profusely.

What if I am running late for my Infrared Sauna appointment?

If you are running late, please call and let us know.  Please understand that the tardy minutes will cut into your session if we have an appointment booked after you. Please read our Cancellation & Lateness Policy here.

 

Is the Infrared Sauna sanitary?

Yes.! After each session we clean and disinfect the sauna. We also require all clients to wear a bating suit and to sit / lay on towels while using the sauna.

Is the Infrared Sauna private?

Yes it is!  Think of it as your private little heaven where you can relax uninterrupted.

How often should I use the Infrared Sauna?

You should base your sauna frequency on your personal health and wellness goals.  Saunas can be taken daily.  3 times a week is recommended for a steady detoxifying regimen.  Try taking a sauna following your pilates or workout routine.

How much water should I drink?

PLENTY! Drink water before, during and afterwards. It is important to bring water with you and inside the Infrared Sauna.  Drinks with electrolytes in them are very beneficial. Coconut water is natures’ electrolyte replacement drink.

How long is each Infrared Sauna session?

Sessions are a maximum of 30min. You will have extra time before and after your session to change.

How long does it take for my core body temperature to return to normal?

It is normal for the body to take as much as an hour to return to its regular temperature.  This is why the body continues to sweat after the sauna is finished.

Do you have showers?

No.  We recommend waiting at least an hour to shower as it allows the body to continue to sweat out toxins.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?

It is best to schedule ahead of time. Scheduling can be done by calling or visiting our facility.  Walk-ins are accommodated based on sauna availability.

Can I use the Infrared Sauna if I have implants?

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

Can a friend join me in my session?

Unfortunately no. There is enough room for one person at a time. Plus, think of this as your private alone time.

Am I only losing water weight when in the Infrared Sauna?

No, It is more than that.  Your body works harder in response to the heat.  It increases circulation, heart rate and sweating thus burning calories.  According to many experts and studies it is possible to burn as many calories as you would running for 30 minutes.  So you lose actual weight not just water weight.
